Mr. Yunker is a 1982 graduate of Sturgis High School, and a 1986 graduate of Arizona State University with a B.A. degree in elementary education. Since graduating Mr. Yunker has continued to further his education by taking 40 post graduate hours at Michigan State University.
Mr. Yunker completed his student teaching overseas in England, and after returning to Sturgis, taught at the Sturgis Middle School for three years, fifth-grade at Congress, the Middle School and the High School. The past seventeen years he has taught fifth-grade at Eastwood where he also served as the Outdoor Ed. Coordinator. This year Mr. Yunker is excited to be be moving to the Sturgis Middle School and will be teaching sixth-grade Social Studies.
During his tenure at Sturgis Mr. Yunker has also enjoyed working with older students as well. He has coached Freshman Football and Wrestling, J.V. Baseball, and was the Varsity Wrestling Coach for fourteen years. Mr. Yunker resides just outside of Sturgis where he enjoys all sorts of outdoor activities along with his wife Tana and three children Jamie, Adam and Meah.
